Play your part.
The recording follows you.
A practice app for string players, not built yet. You play one part of a quartet and the other three play from a recording, keeping up with your tempo.
It doesn’t exist yet. Your $5 gets you six months free when it launches. If it hasn’t launched by February 1, 2027, you get the $5 back automatically.
How it’s meant to work
Pick a piece.
Bring your own score and a recording of it.
Play your part.
The recording plays the other three.
It follows you.
When your tempo changes, the recording changes with it.
Why not just play along with a recording?
A recording doesn’t adjust. Play a phrase differently and you’re out of sync. Quartet Buddy follows you, and it’s built for quartets, where the lead moves between parts.
Before you pay
Is it built?
No. There is no app, no prototype and no demo. We'll build it if at least 10 people join.
What if you never build it?
If Quartet Buddy hasn’t launched by February 1, 2027, we refund your $5 automatically. You don’t need to ask.
When will it launch?
We don't know yet.
What do I get for $5?
Six months free once the app launches. Nothing else is promised.
Which instruments?
String quartet first: violin, viola and cello. You bring your own score and recording. Other instruments may follow.
How is it different from other accompaniment apps?
Other apps follow a soloist over a piano or orchestra. Quartet Buddy is for playing one part in a group.
Can it follow my cues?
Maybe later. It won't be in the first version.
Will it work?
We don't know yet. Following a live player in real time is hard, and testing that comes first.
